We are looking for an experienced Lead Design Engineer to play the lead role in the development and production of our IoT products. The Design Engineer is a critical technology role at IoT Ventures, ensuring successful sourcing, design, development, delivery and operation of LoRaWAN devices to support our world-class solutions and ventures.The Lead Design Engineer will be part of building an A class team - coaching and leading a specialist Engineering team that can be as good as any team anywhere. Over time, the Lead Design Engineer will learn, optimise, teach others and transfer knowledge, move up and on in terms of leadership, responsibility and reward.The Lead Design Engineer will build IoTV's global reputation for leadership in the adoption of core technologies eg LoRaWan, On-Device Neural Networks/Machine Learning, Energy harvesting, Dynamic device management and continuous calibration (power, sensing, etc.), RF fingerprinting, etc. We will be a quick and early adopter of emerging technologies eg LoRaWAN Relays, LoRaWAN satellites, new device sensors and engage with research leads in Academic institutions.IoT Ventures has a goal to be a world-class organisation, delivering end to end LoRaWAN solutions. The Lead Design Engineer will assist in the development of world best practice in the technical leadership of: design, delivery, innovation, and the teams/ work associated with that. This is built on an end to end value perspective that allows rapid and efficient translation of business concepts into engineering outcomes, with short product innovation cycles.The Lead Design Engineer role would ideally suit someone with more than 5 years post-University practical experience, a desire to learn, a strong focus on technological innovation and delivery, an interest in business and societal transformation, and a track record in achievement and getting results.Core Engineering functionsHardware and PCB designInitial Prototype constructionLead engineering R&D process, incl supervision of 3rd Party where usedCommission new IoTV Devices and manages Third Party delivery where usedWork with strategic third party manufacturersDevelop device test processes and documentationManage external test and certification processesManage fleet of current devices and suite of IP (LEC, LFC)Maintain relevant documentation and contribute to ongoing improvement of IoTV methods for execution and knowledge management.Leadership functionsLead, coach and support the Engineering team incl Device Field Engineers, FirmWare Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, and provide engineering input into the recruitment process when needed.Oversee technical evaluation of 3rd party IoTV devices eg requirements development, sourcing, evaluation, testing and contribution to development of support/ operational capability.Skills requiredStrong technical skills including board level hardware / firmware design (electrical engineering or similar)An appetite to learn new technologies and processesInitiative and imaginationSensitive and capable communicator – written/ oralAn awareness of commercial and economic considerationsPractical and pragmatic approach to getting things doneTime management, planning, organisation of self and teamsWorking withTechnology Delivery Team - systems engineers, field engineers, solution architectureTechnology component suppliers - devices, gatewaysTechnology partners - domestic and internationalReporting lineThe role reports operationally to Technology Delivery Lead with a technical advisory line to the Engineering Chief Engineer.Location, HoursHours: Normal business hours, may be some out of hours user engagement/ implementation and some domestic and international travel.$120,000- $150,000 per annum, depending on level of suitable experienceHow to apply for this jobPlease complete our online application form– https://forms.gle/hqvZeKKaRpMBe8Vi6About IoT VenturesIoT Ventures provides a range of systems integration, technical delivery and operations services to customers and venture partners.
