Lead Communications and Engagement AdvisorPosted: 09/01/2025Closing Date: 02/02/2025Job Type: Permanent - Full TimeJob Category: Advertising, Media, Arts & Entertainment, Environmental ServicesKey Responsibilities:Lead implementation of the organisation's internal communication strategy.Provide expert advice to support our Chair and Councillors.Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to enhance internal and external engagement.Lead and manage a team of communications professionals, providing guidance and support.Oversee the creation of high-quality content for various channels, including social media, newsletters, and press releases.Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including media, community partners, and employees.Monitor and analyse communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of strategies and make data-driven improvements.This role will be responsible for building awareness and understanding of the Regional Council's role and the core services we deliver: Environmental Regulation and Protection, Community Protection and Response to Hazards, and Public Transport services.You'll be a natural leader, approachable, with proven experience in public sector communications and engagement.
With a keen eye for detail, you will set clear plans for deliverables with a focus on proactive activity.
People will gravitate to you due to your excellent advice and calm manner.Key Skills and Attributes:Strong leadership and team management abilities.Ability to think strategically and creatively to solve complex communication challenges.A degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.Proven experience in a communications role, preferably within local government.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms.Our values underpin everything we do.
