GHD is on the lookout for a talented and experienced Lead Bridge Engineer to join our team in Christchurch or Auckland.
You will take a lead technical role in our bridges/civil infrastructure service offering, providing innovative solutions and delivering high quality projects for our internal, existing, and new clients across central & local government and the private sector.
You will also manage technical delivery of projects to deliver them on time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client. Support bid and project managers through effective use of resources and experience available in the team.
The role:

Developing high quality business relationships with existing and potential clients to maintain client satisfaction at a high level and maximise opportunities for repeat business.
Developing collaborative relationships with the Transport and Water market leaders, regional leaders and office managers to support bids and project delivery.
Technical input and leadership to projects – including safety in design and QA reviews of project deliverables.
Mentoring and guidance to design engineers on projects.
Keep knowledge and competencies current, guide staff and contribute to GHD global knowledge base.
Preparation of high-quality reports, correspondence, and other deliverables.
Design of bridges and civil structures and their foundations.
Inspection and condition assessment of bridges and civil structures.
Load capacity assessment of bridges.
Seismic assessment and retrofit design for bridges and civil structures.
Construction monitoring/contract administration on bridge projects.

About you:

A relevant university degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering.
CPEng Membership of Engineering New Zealand.
10 plus years' experience in consulting and bridge design experience.
In depth understanding of NZ bridge codes and standards including seismic design.
Proven experience working on multi-discipline projects.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
Self-motivated and energetic, with a bias to action.
Flexible in approach to challenges.
Ability to travel for secondments – both within NZ and internationally.
