About the role: As the Lead Adviser Maori Partnerships, you will play a crucial role in fostering strategic relationships and strengthening connections with Maori communities and organisations across Te Tau Ihu o Te Waka-a-Maui, top of the South Island, and the West Coast of the South Island through meaningful engagement that reflects the values of Ara Poutama Aotearoa.
This role is responsible for the active facilitation and maintenance of regional relationships and engagement with whanau, hapu, iwi, and Maori organisations to ensure Te Ao Maori perspectives at all levels of our work.
You will continue to build, maintain, and monitor region-based relationships and partnerships with whanau, hapu, iwi, communities, and all partners who support us to enhance the quality of our relationships to deliver better outcomes for all New Zealanders in our management.
Accountabilities of the position: Lead regional engagement with Maori and ensure strong, constructive relationships are developed and maintained in the region to support and develop formal and informal relationships with key stakeholders.
Identify, support, and monitor formal and informal relationships and partnership connections across Te Tau Ihu o Te Waka-a-Maui.
Keep national-level teams informed of status, issues, or risks as relevant to Te Tau Ihu o Te Waka-a-Maui.
Understand the people in our management across the region and seek to develop relationships and partnerships that support the needs to improve outcomes.
The successful applicant will need to be based within the Nelson / Marlborough / West Coast areas and be available to travel for the role as required across the region.
About you: The successful Lead Advisor will have proven experience at a principal or senior advisory level, the confidence and ability to operate effectively in a Maori cultural setting, as well as confidence engaging with whanau, hapu, iwi, and marae.
In addition, we ask you to demonstrate the following: Demonstrated ability to operate effectively within Te Ao Maori and have an understanding of Te Ao Maori worldview, Te Reo, Tikanga, and an understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and Hokai Rangi, as is required to facilitate effective collaboration with Iwi, Hapu, and Kaitiaki.
Awareness of justice sector trends and issues, the cultural, political, and social environment of Ara Poutama Aotearoa.

Adept at influencing and encouraging others to gain commitment and support for views, actions, and recommendations, and to effectively manage the resolution of conflicts.
Salary: The midpoint of the salary range is $115,546 per annum, and the full range (85%-120%) is $98,215 - $138,656 per annum.
Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
