We're seeking a driven, enthusiastic generalist to join our Nelson team!We have an exciting opportunity for a driven, enthusiastic, and versatile professional with 5 plus years of Land Development experience to join our busy team in Nelson.You will be supporting the Branch Manager on multiple land development and civil infrastructure projects, taking a hands-on role in managing these projects from start to finish.Whether your skills are in surveying, engineering, or design, we are looking for someone adaptable and confident in leading projects from start to finish.

With growing workloads, we handle complex and exciting projects ranging from 2-lot to 500-lot subdivisions across the South Island.Project Management: You will have the opportunity to lead and project manage multiple projects from start to finish.
As an experienced engineer or surveyor, you will work directly with clients, Council, and Contractors.

Being based in Nelson, you'll have opportunities to travel to our main office in Christchurch for key annual events and our annual team trip to Hanmer Springs, ensuring you feel included and connected.We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in land development and civil engineering or surveying to lead diverse projects from start to finish.
In this role, you'll manage all phases of projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards while effectively communicating with clients, councils, and internal teams.
You will be responsible for overseeing design and consenting phases, preparing tender documentation, and ensuring all aspects of the project meet quality and regulatory requirements.Your role will involve mentoring junior staff, applying your technical expertise in areas such as surveying, earthworks, roading, and general civil design, and actively engaging in business development to build and nurture client relationships.
The ideal candidate will be a team player with excellent problem-solving skills, a passion for engineering/surveying, and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes across multiple concurrent projects.Desired Skills and ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you should have:Great communication skills for interactions with clients, Councils, and other staff and a positive attitude.A minimum of 5 plus years of relevant engineering/surveying and project management experience.Good Cadastral skillset and an interest in providing mentoring to junior staff.Experience with 12d would be an advantage.Being a team player and have a passion for engineering/surveying.Have an appetite for learning and be enthusiastic about what you do.Enthusiasm for developing and nurturing your own client base.Demonstrated competency and experience as a lead civil engineering designer.Proven competencies in 3 waters, earthworks, roading, pavements, and general civil design aspects.Sound knowledge of relevant industry standards, including NZS3910, NZS4404, TA design codes of practice, and NZBC.The ability to manage concurrent projects and handle responsibility.Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.High motivation, attention to detail, and an enthusiastic approach to your work.Take the Next Step:If you're seeking the next exciting step in your career and want to join our innovative team, get in touch with our HR team today!
