Hill Labs is a nationwide analytical testing laboratory, offering quality services to clients across multiple market sectors including agriculture, environmental and food.
We have an excellent opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our leading New Zealand organisation in either a permanent part-time role, or a casual role based in our commercial laboratory in Christchurch.
We are looking for people who are self-disciplined with the ability to follow set procedures and take the initiative when necessary.
The permanent part-time role will be working in the Microbiology team for 12 hours per week; working 4:30pm-7:30pm, Tuesday-Friday.
The casual position would suit a candidate who is looking to increase their range of laboratory skills, is very flexible with their time, and is available to work at short notice including evenings and weekends.
As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out laboratory operational activities to ensure efficient ongoing delivery of a quality analytical service to our clients whilst gaining practical training in a professional laboratory environment.
Key focus of role: Conducting lab operational duties to ensure efficient ongoing delivery of a quality analytical service to our clients Calibration and maintenance of lab equipment Knowledge of and an ability to follow ISO 17025 guidelines Working closely with the extended team within the branch About you: May have a tertiary qualification in science or relevant discipline; BSc advantageous May have practical and theoretical chemistry and/or microbiology knowledge Previous commercial laboratory experience advantageous Excellent time management, communication and organisational skills Good attention to detail and excellent computer skills Able to work effectively (individually and within a team environment) with minimum supervision by following detailed laboratory instructions.
