Do you have experience in chemical and microbiological testing? The New Plymouth District Council is looking for a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team for a 1-year parental leave cover, starting on the 3rd of February 2025.Tino takohanga Key responsibilitiesLaboratory testing and reporting results in a timely manner to allow changes to be made to the plant processes.Recognise and inform operations of results that are trending negatively, are non-compliant or unusual.Make chemicals for laboratory, plant and aquatic centres.Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment to fix/understand variances/anomalies.Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the principles and practices of IANZ accreditation.Analyse project and trial samples for NPDC Project Managers and consultants as required.Quality assurance – participate in both internal and external audits.Identify laboratory hazards.Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation.Nga tino pukenga me nga wheako Essential skills and experienceA relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. NZCS).Some knowledge of process plant operations.Knowledge of health and safety legislation.Understanding in laboratory quality control/systems.Computer literacy.Driver's licence.Experience operating an ion chromat or ICP-OES would be an advantage.He aha ai a Taranaki?
