Te aheinga: The opportunity This is a unique opportunity that would support the required laboratory and practical components of courses in Bridgepoint Bridging Education as well as provide academic support to improve the progression of learners, particularly in mathematics and science.
The main responsibility for this role is to provide technical support toward practical activities in Bridgepoint including experimental design, lab setup, and pack-down after the lab session and provide equipment training to users with good laboratory practices, in accordance with the Unitec Health and Safety guidelines.
You will also contribute to equipment and infrastructure procurement, planning and implementation.

You are comfortable collaborating with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including academic staff, professional staff, industry stakeholders, and our learners.
You'll have: An understanding or desire to learn te reo Maori, tikanga Maori, and the values and practices of kaupapa Maori.
Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments.
Must be physically fit in order to undertake field work and lab preparation.
The ability to instruct students and staff in the operation of equipment and technical matters, providing demonstrations to students in a group or on an individual basis based on teaching requirements.
The successful candidate must be able to induct students and staff in the occupational health and safety requirements pertaining to the equipment and environments they will operate in, and to ensure compliance with any relevant legislation.
Demonstrated ability to problem solve and deliver solutions to staff and students.
Strong communication skills with the ability to provide both written and verbal instruction to a range of audiences.
Must possess strong organisational and management skills to ensure timely completion of tasks and effective service delivery, particularly about planning and managing equipment and materials and maintenance of all relevant records and documentation.
Demonstrate a commitment to ensure facilities and equipment are maintained in a clean and safe condition and that any issues identified are reported and rectified in accordance with Unitec Institute of Technology processes and Health and Safety requirements.
A willingness to contribute to equipment and infrastructure procurement, planning and implementation.
An interest in researching new technologies and industry best practices and a commitment to ongoing development of knowledge relevant to the position.
A current first aid certificate.
NZ Drivers licence with 'F' endorsement.
