Au Mahi | What You Will Do
The School of Biological Sciences is seeking a motivated and proactive Laboratory Coordinator to join the team. This part-time role offers lots of variety as you interact with students and staff. You will provide exceptional technical assistance by:
Ensuring teaching laboratories are well prepared, and field trips are organized.
Supporting the lab instructor and demonstrators.
Pre-testing experiments including troubleshooting any issues.
You will also provide professional support for the School of Biological Sciences research areas as required.
To be successful in the Laboratory Coordinator role, you will have:
A science background in biology, molecular biology, or microbiology.
A minimum qualification of a National Diploma in Science (NZQA Level 6).
Extensive experience working in a laboratory setting.
Comprehensive knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, particularly in relation to Hazardous Substances and the Hazardous Substances and New Organism Act.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work within a team environment and interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
