Kitchen Stewards work to ensure that all Food Preparation and Service areas along with all general cooking/serving items are cleaned to the hotel's standards in a timely manner.You will work across all food-related areas: Alpine Restaurant, Panorama Room Restaurant, Sir Edmund Hillary café, Chamois Bar and Grill, stores, and staff dining under the direction of the immediate Supervisor.
This position can provide progression into a Chef position for the right candidate.What will you be doingClear dishes from dish station: prioritize during restaurant service timesFollow and use the Hermitage Food Control Plan and Company Procedures as directed to ensure food safety requirements are exceededWork as part of the Stewarding team to maintain a pleasant and safe working environmentAssist with sorting linen and uniforms as per laundry service requirementsAssist with Stores deliveries as requiredMove and rotate stock on FIFO (first-in-first-out) basisRun errands between kitchens and within the hotel as requiredActively and positively communicate between all hotel departments: with fellow Stewards, Kitchenhands, Chefs, and front of house staff in particularDemonstrate competent and safe use of knivesFood preparation including washing/peeling/cutting of various menu ingredientsPreparation of plattersWhat you will bring to the roleA passion for food and willingness to work in a busy kitchenThe ability to communicate and collaborate with colleaguesA curiosity and openness to feedback and learningA commitment to food safetyThe benefitsFull time, permanent and fixed term, 60 hours per fortnight$25 per hourFree access to all activities offered by the Hermitage Hotel, along with generous discounts on food and beverage, available from your first day on the job.Discounted hotel accommodation for Friends and Family.Live in Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park, with stunning surroundings and unparalleled views – a short and remarkable commute to work.Opportunities to grow, develop and upskill, along with working in other departments to broaden your experienceAccommodation at reasonable rent including power, and Wi-Fi.At the Hermitage, Aoraki / Mount Cook Alpine Village, we offer more than just a place to work – we offer a career lifestyle experience.
