Job Description We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Kitchen Assistant to join our team on a casual basis in Auckland, New Zealand.
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our culinary team to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our residents and visitors.
Assist the chef with food preparation tasks, ensuring high-quality standards are met Clean kitchen surfaces, equipment, and utensils, maintaining a hygienic work environment Wash dishes and dispose of kitchen waste properly Help unload and store incoming food supplies and ingredients Follow food safety protocols and adhere to the Food Control Plan requirements Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during meal services Support the chef in various kitchen duties as needed Contribute to creating a positive dining atmosphere for residents and guests Qualifications Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor Strong communication abilities to interact effectively with team members and residents Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment Keen attention to detail in food preparation and kitchen cleanliness Basic food handling knowledge and understanding of food safety practices Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights Ability to follow instructions accurately and work collaboratively in a team Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays Positive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks Previous kitchen or food service experience is preferred but not required, and barista or café experience is a bonus.
