We have a vacancy for a Kiln Operator in the kiln/heat plant at our Thames site. We are looking for team player who has strong problem solving skills. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in wood residue fired energy plants/kiln drying. However, similar plant control and monitoring experience with sound mechanical aptitude, would be considered.
This position will be part of a roster with three other Kiln Operators.
Shift pattern is 4 on, 4 off - 2pm to 2 am.
Key function and duties
• To ensure that the kiln dried products are produced to a high standard and that the minimum levels of degrade, re-dries etc are not surpassed
• To ensure that all scheduled or required maintenance to the Kiln is completed with minimum disruption to operations
• To ensure that all health, safety and Kiln operating procedures are maintained at all times
• To be available, on call, as per the Kiln roster system
Personal Specifications
• Preferred experience as a Kilns operator or experience in timber industry
• A current Forklift Operators certificate would be an advantage
• A high personal focus on quality, reliability and the ability to work independently
• A strong record and focus on Health & Safety
• A strong work ethic and the capability to work autonomously
• Excellent communication skills and ability to get on with the team
• Computer savvy and ability to problem solve
• Physically fit
