Kerikeri Retirement Village Companionship (cards, tea, books and more) Volunteers are a vital part of life at Kerikeri Retirement Village.
We have more than 50 people, ranging from pre-schoolers to centenarians, delivering a range of services to our residents.
We are looking for more volunteers to help with various activities.
Activities Book recommendations: Help residents select books to read based on their interests and capabilities from our library.
Reading: Read aloud to older individuals with sight impairments, providing comfort and stimulating memories.
Stroll in the gardens: Assist residents in walking through our beautiful gardens, promoting physical health and exposure to nature.
Flower arranging: Help residents who miss their gardens to express themselves through flower arranging.
Card games: Engage residents in card games to stimulate fine motor skills and provide emotional wellbeing.
Wellness chair: Sit with residents in a sensory chair to provide comfort, particularly for dementia patients.
Reminiscing: Engage residents in conversation and share memories, encouraging emotional connection.
Morning tea trolley: Bring joy to residents by serving tea and engaging in conversation.
Private correspondence support: Assist residents with letters, emails, and texts to help them stay connected with loved ones.
Requirements Kind and patient A Police background check is required for this role.
Time commitment Flexible.
