Full Time Application Closes 10 May 2024 Southland - Southland Tour Guide and Escort We are looking for a 2IC to help manage or Discovery Centre in Milford Sound.  Our site is located in the beating heart of Milford Sound, accessible only by boat.  We host visitors to learn more about the amazing fiord, and also take small groups of kayakers on to the water for an up close and personal experience of New Zealand's World Heritage Site. Reporting to the Discovery Centre Manager, you will be responsible for managing the site in their absence.
The successful candidate will have the following:
Previous work experience as a Kayak Guide, minimum of 1 year in a commercial environment Diving experience and qualification to a minimum of Padi Rescue Diver or equivalent (NZ Tourism COC certificate an advantage) Experience of training, motivating, and leading teams, making decisions, and managing incidents Confident public speaker, with excellent spoken English. Able to listen well, follow guidelines, and take instruction. Strong work ethic, and a commitment to Health & Safety Ability to think on your feet and problem solve under pressure.  Competent in administration, such as daily reporting, health & safety, leave and roster amendments Ability to work in New Zealand on a permanent or long term basis (minimum 3 years) The role is all about ensuring our Milford Sound guests have an outstanding experience.  We have a lot of fun, but we also work very hard, keeping our environment clean, safe, and welcoming at all times.
In return, you will receive full training, uniform, dive equipment allowance, your own room in subsidised accommodation, and access to a fully stocked communal staff kitchen. We work a roster of 10 days on and 4 days off to give you the opportunity to explore this stunning region.
