We are looking for a Kaupapa Mental Health and Addictions practitioner who has at least 8 – 10 years' experience working across the mental health and addictions sector to join their team.

The Kaupapa Crises Lead will be the first point of call to service the crises need of whanau who present with mental health addiction needs between 2:30 pm – 9:30 pm. Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager or Appointee, this position is aimed at ensuring eligible whanau have timely access to high quality mental health and addiction support services and other support where identified.
Key responsibilities of the role: Undertake comprehensive and accurate triage, assessment, and risk assessment of clientsIdentify and mobilise immediate interventions and support to stabilise the crises within the first 24 – 72 hoursProvide greater access to crises support and services after hoursProvide short-term case management and wrap around supportEnsure whanau are connected with the appropriate follow up interventions, support and wrap around pathwaysFacilitate access to support services, arrange referrals to external agenciesComplete reporting requirements, ensuring strict client confidentialityNga pukenga me whai | Ideal candidate requirements
The role requires a Kaupapa Mental Health and Addictions practitioner who has at least 8 – 10 years' experience working across the mental health and addictions sector. Therefore, we are seeking those who meet the following requirements:
5 – 10 years' experience in the following fields:Kaupapa Maori MHAMental Health ServicesAlcohol and Other drugsGovernment or NGO social servicesChild and/or health servicesJustice systemWhanau ViolenceStrength based and Recovery based practicesThe successful candidate will also need to meet the following requirements:
Extensive relationships with whanau, hapu and Iwi within the Kawerau and surrounding communitiesWhanau Ora wrap around experienceCurrent registration to a relevant professional health body (Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, DAPAANZ, AOD)Lived experience of recovery and mental IllnessRisk Assessment and Management ExperienceProgress Reporting competencyExcellent communication, interpersonal, team building and conflict resolution skillsDe-escalation and Trauma Management experienceCurrent, full NZ Drivers LicenceGood understanding of Kaupapa Maori frameworks and application to service deliveryStrong knowledge of TKKH and the Eastern Bay of Plenty CommunitiesFamiliarity with Toi Kairakau Kaupapa Maori MHA providersExcellent computer literacy skills, with proficiency in all Microsoft Office functionsWhy Tuwharetoa ki Kawerau Hauora?
