Industry will!There are six Ohu Ahumahi – Workforce Development Councils (WDCs) who each take a strategic view of the futures skills needs of industries and help shape the curriculum of vocational education. They also determine the appropriate mix of skills and training for the industries they cover.We have an exciting opportunity to join our team working for Hanga-Aro-Rau – Manufacturing Engineering and Logistics Workforce Development Council. Our purpose is to provide the industries we represent with a strong voice in making the workforce of Aotearoa fit for today and the future, while honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and supporting Maori-Crown relations. To find out more about Hanga-Aro-Rau please see: www.hangaarorau.nzTe ahua o turanga – The nature of the positionThe Qualifications System Developer plays a pivotal role between industry and providers to identify current and future industry capability requirements and develop standards and qualifications that are fit for purpose and address industry workforce demands.You will be passionate about education and training and be excited about the opportunity of creating genuine change to the Vocational Education and Training sector (VET). Seeking equity and partnering are cornerstones of the role that will drive transformational change to the system.Proven experience in qualification/standards design and development in a vocational education environment is essential, and technical competency with NZQA products would be beneficial. Competency in and commitment to te reo Maori me ona tikanga including matauranga Maori (Maori language, customs, protocols and knowledge) are equally valued. You will have experience in facilitation and a keen ear, you will be able to translate complex discussions into clear and simple language that can be used by the vocational education sector. The most important skill is actively listening with intent and the ability to synthesise information into simple clear language.Your passion for all things education and training will be infectious, and you'll be highly skilled at bringing a diverse group of stakeholders on the transformation journey.
