Korero mo te turanga - About the role: Mana Ake Tairawhiti is a new service delivering early intervention psychosocial support to Ngati Porou East Coast Schools. We are dedicated to uplifting the mental wellbeing, awareness & understanding through wananga based learning within kura, communities & whanau. We are looking for a Kaiwhakatere to join our team delivering this Kaupapa to the kura communities between Whangara all the way to Makarika.
The Kaiwhakatere will play a crucial role in delivering engaging mental wellbeing wananga (schools). This position requires a confident individual with strong facilitation skills, who's strengths lie in inspiring young tamariki & rangatahi to be resilient & healthy
This is a Permanent full-time position, based in Gisborne, with some travel within the region to deliver programs and workshops.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Facilitate wananga for children, promoting cultural understanding and participation.Develop and implement engaging educational activities that encourage wellbeing.Facilitate mental wellbeing wananga in kura, creating a safe space for children to explore and discuss mental health topics.Collaborate with colleagues, Tumuaki, teachers, whanau & community members to enhance program delivery.Participate in training and upskilling opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.Participate in delivery of training & workshops for ECNP teachers, communities & whanau.Proficient in Ngati Porou haka, waiata and te reo.Proficient in Maori arts & creativity i.e toi Maori, Mau rakau, purakau. Experience working with children in educational or community settings.Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage and inspire participants.Confidence in traveling to different locations for program delivery.A willingness to learn and upskill in various areas related to the role.Operating Competencies: Full, clean NZ Driver License.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Demonstrates a range of skills, knowledge, and attitudes that contribute positively to the organisation's purpose.Able to establish a good rapport with people.Being flexible, innovative, and open to continuous learning in a changing environment.Trustworthy and confidential.
