Te Wero – The Challenge The objective of this role is to provide the necessary support and mentorship to the staff at Te Kaunihera o Te Hiku o te Ika – Far North District Council (FNDC), enabling them to enhance their cultural proficiency and execute a structured Te Reo and Tikanga Maori training programme. This position aids the Te Hono team, along with the broader Council, in implementing the initiatives of the Te Pae o Uta framework. The primary responsibilities of this role include: Effectively delivering a specified Te Reo and Tikanga training programme to staff, modifying as needed to suit various learning needs and styles. Aiding FNDC Staff and Elected Members in identifying Te Reo and Tikanga training objectives. Conducting thorough evaluations of participants to ensure progress aligns with the Individual Competency Framework. Acting as the authority on Te Reo and Tikanga, offering guidance and advice to staff. Designing and managing the training schedules throughout the organisation, including course administration and training record maintenance through the relevant systems. Supporting People Leaders in formulating significant competency objectives in Learning & Development plans for their teams. Preparing and dismantling training sites and facilities. Successfully completing the designated training programme, which includes: Trainer handbook and modules. Kanohiki te kanohi (face to face) sessions across 3 office locations. Implementing Te Pae o Uta framework and the Te Reo and Tikanga policy. Continually enhancing training plans, materials, and delivery methods. We are looking for someone who brings: A passion for collaborating with colleagues to enhance their skills and comprehension in Te Ao Maori. Fluency in Te Reo, particularly in correct pronunciation and Tikanga. A minimum requirement of a Diploma in Te Reo Maori Level 3. Experience in the preparation and delivery of Te Reo and Tikanga training, with the capability to implement regionally prescribed training strategies and materials. Experience in providing training to a diverse audience. Exceptional communication skills with the capacity to establish and sustain effective working relationships. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft applications, particularly PowerPoint. Proficient knowledge of audio-visual equipment. A current driver's licence and the willingness to travel across the district. The ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team. The ability to deliver training effectively through a disciplined and systematic approach within the given timeframe. The ability to show initiative along with sound judgement. A professional and results-driven approach with a strong focus on business and customer needs. Sensitivity and awareness towards varying cultural needs. The salary for this position is Grade 15 within Council's salary structure (Band: $75,115 to $88,371 pro rata per annum) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
