Ko wai matou | About Us Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school with a roll of up to 24,000 akonga (students) at any point of time. We provide personalised and authentic learning programmes through distance education from early childhood to NCEA Level 3, including to young adult and adult learners.
Our vision is to enable our akonga to achieve their educational and personal goals, empowering them to become engaged and contributing members of their communities.
Our akonga are at the centre of all we do. Our learning programmes are flexible, enabling us to respond to diverse akonga needs Ki te ti, ki te ta, ki te katoa – Anytime, anywhere, anyone.
Teaching at Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu Kaiako at Te Kura engage with our akonga online and face-to-face at huinga ako (advisories) and events, and also work onsite with colleagues in our regional offices. Te Kura aims to provide flexible working arrangements, so Kaiako are able to request to work from home for up to two days per week.
Mo tenei turanga mahi | About this position: We have a unique opportunity for a dynamic and innovative Kaiako (Teacher) to join our team in Hastings. In this role, you'll serve as a Kaiako with additional responsibilities under the title of 'Kaituitui' - the one who threads people together. As a Kaituitui, alongside your Kaiako duties, you'll have the opportunity to:
Deliver engaging learning programmes through our Huinga Ako, catering to our full-time akonga, including young adults.Coordinate regular face-to-face Huinga Ako sessions to enhance akonga presence and participation.Visit akonga in their homes, introducing them to Te Kura and encouraging consistent attendance at Huinga Ako.Support regional events and initiatives, establishing and nurturing community connections.Develop strong professional relationships with key stakeholders within the designated rohe.Ko koe tenei | About you: If you're passionate about education and community engagement, here's your chance to expand your responsibilities and make a real difference. We're seeking someone who's enthusiastic, collaborative, and understands the core competencies of the New Zealand curriculum assessment practice and has knowledge across years 1 - 13. Most importantly, you're committed to improving education outcomes for akonga. Your ability to build and maintain strong relationships with akonga and other stakeholders is crucial.
