Wellington based only Permanent Position Mo tenei turanga mahi About this role We are looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Senior Advisor to provide proactive and strategic ministerial advice across the Ministry. A large focus of the Senior Advisor role is to drive opportunities for improvement and build on the capability within the team. There are lots of opportunities for you to scope and lead high visibility projects while we provide critical support to a busy Ministry. Your core responsibilities will include: Providing advice on and drafting replies to written parliamentary questions. Leading and coordinating the Ministry's responses to Annual Review and Estimates questions. Leading related hearing preparations. Leading responses to Ombudsman investigations. Collaborating with Ministry business groups to source information and advice. Contributing to team processes to ensure consistent and quality service delivery. Coaching and mentoring Advisors and Coordinators within the team. Acting as a Team Leader when required, ideally with some experience doing so. Nga pukenga me nga wheako Skills and experience Extensive experience with parliamentary questions, correspondence, Ombudsman investigations, and Annual Review and Estimates deliverables. Clear communication, written and verbal. Working knowledge of the Cabinet Manual and Standing Orders. Excellent understanding of how government works (Machinery of Government). Strong relationship building skills. Confidence engaging with senior leaders and Ministers' offices. Experience leading projects with a focus on continuous improvement. Great relationship management skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels. Strong working knowledge of the Official Information Act (necessary to lead responses to Ombudsman investigations) and Cabinet Office Guidance. Whanuitanga Utu a-Tau Salary range Salary range: $108,976 to $132,277 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
