Together, we're on a journey to see communities transformed and futures reimagined through compassion, connection, and action.Mo te turanga | About the roleAs a Kaitohu Rangatahi, you will support wahine to learn practical and relational living skills through a kaupapa Maori lens and to ensure a culturally and practically safe environment for wahine. You will also engage with community and whanau networks as appropriate to support positive opportunities and outcomes for those living within Youth Transitional Housing.Some Key ResponsibilitiesPastoral care for Rangatahi - provide a safe space for them to share concerns and work through issues.Mentoring and coaching - support residents, role modelling and develop programmes for wahine.Relationships and influence - to foster strong relationships with residents, build relationships with other youth housing workers and provide opportunities for employment/education.Support and guide young people to build connections with their whanau, hapu, iwi and marae, and to strengthen their sense of identity and belonging.Qualification, Experience and RequirementsRelevant qualification - a level 4 qualification, or above in Youth Work, Te Reo me ona tikanga Maori or similar field would be highly advantageous.Experience working with vulnerable rangatahi and/or whanau.Experience in workplace placement or work brokerage.Understanding of and alignment with matauranga Maori informed approaches.Experience in participating fully as part of a dynamic team.Experience in pastoral care and support.Experience in mentoring, coaching and/or facilitation.Good computer skills, particularly with MS Office Software - report writing is part of this role.He aha tau e whiwhi ai? | What's in it for you?An opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable whanau and communities.A supportive and collaborative team environment that values innovation and integrity.A chance to work in an organisation committed to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi.Competitive salary and opportunities for professional growth.Immediate Sick Leave: Start with sick leave entitlement from your first day.Dedicated Wellbeing Days: Receive 5 Wellbeing Days each year to recharge and focus on what matters most to you.Work Close to Home: If you live in West Auckland, you'll appreciate the convenience of working close to home.Join us in creating meaningful change for New Zealand communities.
