Kaitohu Matua | Senior AdvisorTe Puni Rohe | RegionsTe Puni Kokiri | The Ministry of Maori DevelopmentWe are looking for an experienced and motivated innovator who lives in Dunedin (or in the region willing to commute into the office) and looking for a challenge that allows you to lead out Maori economic development and community resilience work with whanau, hapu, iwi, Maori organisations, and communities.If you are a team player who thrives on challenges and identifying opportunities to grow the Maori economy, then we might have the role you have been looking for!As a Senior Advisor, you will be the champion and promoter of the Te Puni Kokiri investment strategy to enable better outcomes for Maori. Working alongside and supporting your colleagues across the Te Waipounamu region, you will form enduring relationships while understanding the context of your region. This includes:Supporting the region to deliver on the work programme.Supporting the Regional Director and Team Leader to build a strong presence for Te Puni Kokiri in the region to support the implementation of Government policies.Providing mentoring and coaching to Advisors within the region.Managing the flow of information between Maori and the Policy team for programme evaluation.Managing local level provider contracts including reporting and funding approvals.The salary range of this role is $104,000 - $115,743 per annum determined by the successful candidate's skills and experience relevant to this role.Ko wai koe | About youTo be successful in this role, you will have the following essential skills:Currently live in Otago within daily commuting distance to the regional office in Otepoti-Dunedin from Monday to Friday.Have strong relationships in Otago across Papatipu Runanga and Nga Maata waka communities with an ability to actively manage significant relationships, to value diverse perspectives and experiences.Have experience working with whanau, hapu, iwi, Maori organisations, and communities.Have a high level of understanding of the Machinery of Government, public service, and public sector processes that ensure impartiality of Public Servants.Have an understanding of The Treaty of Waitangi and Te Tiriti o Waitangi and recognize the importance of the Treaty from both Maori and Crown perspectives.A level of competency in te reo Maori, or a willingness to learn.Understand the rationale and mechanisms of government intervention, i.e., reasons for government intervention, the available intervention mechanisms, and alternatives to government interventions.Commercial experience with keen analytical skills and the ability to identify and support possible growth opportunities.Ka whiwhi koe i te aha | What you will get in returnTe Puni Kokiri is a diverse and rewarding working environment full of passionate people focused on discovering solutions that will assist in serving our communities.
