Are you passionate about te taiao, and keen to be at the leading edge of iwi partnership and conservation leadership in Tamaki Makaurau? Play a vital, key role in redeveloping the way we deliver our Treaty obligations – an opportunity to make these more meaningful. As Kaitohu Matua Treaty Partner Relationships, you will take a lead role on delivery of key work related to Treaty commitments across the rohe. You will play a strategic role in the wider team working alongside your peers to ensure our treaty partner is a priority and remains at the forefront for delivery, including Treaty settlement obligations.

You will focus on:

Identifying gaps in Treaty settlement implementation obligations across the districts and work with the operations teams to plan for and remedy the gaps.

Scope work arising from new Treaty settlements, and work with the management team to operationalise conservation and commercial opportunities for Iwi.

Coordinate legal input to interpret settlement documents and ensure implementation plans fulfil the intent of Settlements.

Facilitate coordination of annual business planning meetings with Treaty partners.

Support coordination of regular meetings with Treaty partners to develop, review and amend implementation of relevant agreements, charters, and protocols.

Scope, plan, manage and deliver specific agreed initiatives.

Support relevant managers, director, and other staff with the strategic collaboration meetings with our Treaty partners.

Support opportunities for whanau, hapu, and iwi to build their internal capabilities to practice their responsibilities as kaitiaki.

Support the Operational Leadership Team to develop a regional framework to identify and implement DOC's obligations to Post Settlement Governance Entities (PSGEs).

Keep up to date with the local iwi landscape and ensure this information is shared with operations.

Willingness to go the extra mile for whanau, and be able to engage with DOC staff, processes and procedures.

You will have the opportunity to regularly work amongst Iwi at place, attend Iwi-led workshops, as well as attend hui and stay on the marae.
