He angitutanga | About the team and Role
As a Senior International Advisor, you'll have an important role in contributing to the advancement of conservation outcomes in Aotearoa, the Pacific region, and across the globe. You'll be developing advice on New Zealand's international conservation policy and commitments, and representing New Zealand in international fora, as required. In this role, you will have a particular focus on developing advice on, and delivering, New Zealand's international seabird strategy to address fisheries threats to seabirds.
Working as part of a wider interagency team, you'll collaborate on the development and implementation of an ambitious international strategy focused on influencing international policy and commitments; implementing international agreements; and demonstrating leadership, sharing, and building conservation knowledge. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to wider international engagement, including DOC's role in the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. You'll work closely with our key partners to support the delivery of the Government's international conservation obligations and priorities.

The International Team is part of DOC's Policy Directorate, whose overall role and purpose is to advise the Government on the best frameworks and settings to deliver on outcomes for conservation.
We have a team of 7 amazing Senior International Advisors, who have extensive experience both in policy and in international environmental negotiations, so you'll be well supported as you develop into the role! He korero mou | Skills and experience we are looking for
Experience in policy analysis, preferably in an international context.
A background or keen interest in the environment and conservation.
Good cultural capability demonstrated by effective iwi and hapu engagement.
Experience building alliances and influencing.

The salary range for this position is $95,706 - $128,271. Salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate based on their level of relevant skills and experience.
