You will help to shape and influence policy and willProvide credible, evidence-based advice anchored in the context of iwi, hapu, whanau and Maori as it applies to the aims of the Te Reo Maori Policy team.
This includes providing advice on policies relating to Maori language and Maori mediaConduct thorough and detailed analysis of complex policy issues to understand their implications and identify potential solutionsWork collaboratively with peers at Te Puni Kokiri and with organisations including Te Matawai, Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Maori, Te Mangai Paho, and Whakaata Maori.Apply and advise on te ao Maori and Te Tiriti based frameworks as they relate to policyContribute towards the goals set out in Maihi Karauna - the Crown's Strategy for Maori Language RevitalisationContribute to robust team discussion, and promote a culture of continuous feedback.The appointment range for this role is between $68,406 and $84,793 per annum and the salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and experience.Mou | About youAn aspiring policy professional, you will have previous experience in a government policy shop and/or an understanding of te ao Maori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi frameworks as they apply to policy.
You may be familiar with legislation including Te Ture mo Te Reo Maori 2016 (Maori Language Act 2016).
You will have:The mix of knowledge, skills, practices, and behaviours required by a modern policy practitioner to be able to deliver quality policy advice with the desire to continually learn and grow your policy skillsetAn understanding of, and ability to prioritise the flow of information, with the conceptual and analytical skills to provide solutions to ambiguous or complex problemsSome knowledge of the legal frameworks in Aotearoa, including legislation as it relates to Maori language and Maori media and broadcastingHave highly developed communication skills, including written.
