Based in Poneke Wellington, our Policy Puni leads across the public sector to understand and prioritise issues, needs and opportunities impacting on Maori development and wellbeing. The Puni consists of 8 teams focusing on specific Policy areas.Maori Sector Partnerships focuses on strengthening the Maori Sector by ensuring mechanisms and arrangements for Maori entities, organisations and institutions are fit for purpose. This includes legislative reform relating to Maori Development. We have an exciting opportunity for an Analyst to join this small, dynamic, professional team.Te whai wahitanga | The opportunityProviding a high standard of advice to the Policy Manager, Maori Sector Partnerships, other key stakeholders within Te Puni Kokiri and across the wider public sector. You will help to shape and influence policy and will:Provide credible, evidence-based advice anchored in the context of iwi, hapu, whanau and Maori as it applies to Maori Sector PartnershipsConduct thorough and detailed analysis of complex policy issues to understand their implications and identify potential solutionsWork collaboratively with peers at Te Puni Kokiri and with other key stakeholders across government. Build and maintain strong relationships with Maori entities and organisationsWork with and process key pieces of legislation including the Maori Purposes Bill and capturing Maori organisations responses to the legislation. Apply and advise on te ao Maori and Te Tiriti based frameworks as they relate to policyContribute to robust team discussion, and promote a culture of continuous feedbackProvide support to Policy Managers, and Principal and Senior Policy Analysts as part of a one team approach. Learn from these kaimahi to grow and expand your skillset.The appointment range for this role is between $68,406 and $84,793 per annum and the salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and experience.An aspiring policy professional, you have experience in an environment where te ao Maori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi frameworks underpin your mahi. You may be familiar with legislation and may have worked as part of a team to collate responses from Maori organisations to legislation and policy development in the past. You will have:An understanding of, and ability to prioritise the flow of information, with the conceptual and analytical skills to provide solutions to ambiguous or complex problemsSome knowledge of the legal frameworks in AotearoaHighly developed communication skills, including written.
