Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.About the RoleThe primary function of the Kaitakawaenga role is to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to improve the safety and quality of care for Tamariki, rangatahi and their whanau accessing Te Roopu Kimiora (TRK). You will liaise with Health New Zealand services, community services and other Kaupapa Maori organisations (e.g. marae, hapu and iwi) to increase access to specialist care and work as a key member of the team providing assessment, treatment and consultation, while taking account of socio-cultural and Kaupapa Maori issues relevant to the wellbeing of Tamariki and rangatahi within the context of their whanau.About the Team/Service/LocationOur team provides acute and community services for children and young people up to 19 years, who have significant mental health, alcohol and other drug concerns. The service includes assessment and therapeutic interventions from a multi-disciplinary team. We are committed to the ongoing professional and cultural development of Kaimahi.About YouOur ideal candidate will have:Experience working in Te Ao Maori alongside Tamariki, rangatahi and their whanau living with the effects of mental illness and addictionsThe ability to communicate with and advocate for Tamariki, rangatahi and their whanau, collaborate effectively with other members of the team, and engage Maori in making choices that enhance their wellbeingCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects/initiatives that give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settingsWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
