Te Manawahoukura,Te Wananga o Aotearoa's Centre of Rangahau is currently looking for dedicatedKairangahau Matua – Senior Research Fellows to join us in permanent, full-timepositions, flexible to be based anywhere in Aotearoa. We have three rolesavailable with a Matauranga Maori focus to their Rangahau. This role offers theopportunity to engage in high-level research either independently or as part ofa team, while mentoring early-career researchers and building researchcapability across TWoA. We have a particular focus on building Rangahaucapability here at Te Wananga o Aotearoa so supporting kaimahi across theWananga will be a key part of your role. In addition, experience attractingresearch funding would be desirable. We are open to kairangahau at differentstages of career and your application would be assessed based on your outputsrelative to opportunity.
Kairangahau Matua –Senior Research Fellow will lead and contribute to Rangahau projects, with aparticular focus on kaupapa Maori. Weare particularly keen to hear from kairangahau with backgrounds in:
Education and pedagogy
Science
Toi
Kaupapa which work towards solutions for resilient Maori communities
The ideal candidate is a passionate Kairangahau with a strong commitmentto advancing Matauranga Maori and fostering research excellence.
You will also ideallybring with you:
PhD/Doctorate in anysubject (preferred).
Alternatively, 10+ years ofpractice-based expertise and lived Matauranga in a specialised disciplinarypractice (e.g., toi) in lieu of a PhD.
Experience leading Rangahauprojects or teams, from design through to data analysis and dissemination.
A proven track record of researchpublications which may include journal papers, book chapters, or alternativeoutputs.
Experience securingexternal research grants, contracts, or internal funding
A history of presentingRangahau at national or international conferences.
Demonstrated success infunding proposal writing, with a proven track record.
An established nationalreputation and an emerging international reputation in your subject area.
As akaupapa Maori organisation, your willingness to participate in culturalactivities and develop an understanding of Ahuatanga Maori will be key.
