Te Manawahoukura, Te Wananga o Aotearoa's Centre of Rangahau is currently looking for dedicated Kairangahau Matua Senior Research Fellows to join us in permanent, full-time positions, flexible to be based anywhere in Aotearoa.
We have three roles available with a Matauranga Maori focus to their Rangahau. This role offers the opportunity to engage in high-level research either independently or as part of a team, while mentoring early-career researchers and building research capability across TWoA.
We have a particular focus on building Rangahau capability here at Te Wananga o Aotearoa, so supporting kaimahi across the Wananga will be a key part of your role.
In addition, experience attracting research funding would be desirable. We are open to kairangahau at different stages of career and your application would be assessed based on your outputs relative to opportunity.
Kairangahau Matua Senior Research Fellow will lead and contribute to Rangahau projects, with a particular focus on kaupapa Maori.
We are particularly keen to hear from kairangahau with backgrounds in:

Promoting and preserving Matauranga Maori,
Te reo Maori revitalisation,
Tikanga Maori,
Education and pedagogy,
Science,
Hauora,
Te taiao,
Kaupapa which work towards solutions for resilient Maori communities.

Mou About you
The ideal candidate is a passionate Kairangahau with a strong commitment to advancing Matauranga Maori and fostering research excellence.
You will also ideally bring with you:

PhD / Doctorate in any subject (preferred).
Alternatively, 10+ years of practice-based expertise and lived Matauranga in a specialised disciplinary practice (toitanga) in lieu of a PhD.
Experience leading Rangahau projects or teams, from design through to data analysis and dissemination.
A proven track record of research publications which may include journal papers, book chapters, or alternative outputs.
Experience securing external research grants, contracts, or internal funding.
A history of presenting Rangahau at national or international conferences.
Demonstrated success in funding proposal writing, with a proven track record.
An established national reputation and an emerging international reputation in your subject area.

As a kaupapa Maori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Ahuatanga Maori will be key.
