Supporting the Chief Financial Officer, Finance Manager, and coaching the wider team, this opportunity provides an experienced or intermediate level kaimahi the chance to learn from and be guided by some of the best as part of a wider team of nine.

The Corporate puni builds and manages the core capabilities of Te Puni Kokiri to support delivery of our role as the Government's principal policy advisor on Maori wellbeing and development.
The Senior Management Accountant is responsible for the provision of regular, timely, and accurate costing and financial information and advice. You will:
Provide proactive expertise to budget managers and Deputy Secretaries.
Aid other puni including Policy to advise on and ensure estimated expenditures are reasonable.
Lead and coach the wider team in the preparation of monthly internal management reporting and internal budgets and forecasts.
Monitor contractors' spend, providing advice to the puni and our Finance Committee.
Relay information to, coach and support two Management Accountants with their mahi.
Take a Business Partner approach to building relationships and to gain a deep understanding of Te Puni Kokiri that enables the provision of robust, accurate, timely advice.
The appointment range for this role is between $104,056 and $127,179 per annum, and the salary will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills and experience.
As an experienced accountancy practitioner, you should be qualified as an accountant and hold registration with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). You may come from the private sector or from within government and should enjoy talking to and striking up conversation with people including leadership. We are looking for:
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collegially and cooperatively with others.
Experience working with financial information and reports, budget bids, and advising on estimated expenditure.
Experience with accountancy processes, including up-to-date knowledge of relevant financial reporting standards (NZ IPSAS, NZ IFRS, and GAAP).
Tertiary level qualification in accountancy.
Technology savvy with competence in Excel and Word and financial management systems. Can learn new systems and processes quickly.
Comfortable working in a te ao Maori environment and in situations where tikanga is observed. Some competence in te reo Maori or a willingness to learn is ideal.
