An experienced Communications leader is needed to support the Ministry as it stands up its new Fast Track Approvals function.

You will be experienced in leading and co-ordinating the full suite of communications deliverables for complex and high-risk work programmes.

You will need a highly attuned risk radar, great strategic communications skills, political nous and the ability to deliver quality work under pressure.

You will also be a proven people leader, able to connect different workstreams and ensure an integrated approach to managing risk.

An understanding of the wider context of RM reform is important. You will be based in External Affairs, reporting to the General Manager and embedded in the team responsible for setting up the new function under the Fast Track Approvals legislation.

The role is funded through Fast Track contingency.

We're looking for a hard-working, experienced communications leader who can think strategically, connect across work programmes and roll up their sleeves to get the mahi done.

You may be required to work or be available for work over the Christmas and New Years' shut down period, given urgency and timeframes of this mahi. You will have:

Deep experience leading communications delivery in a complex environment

Understanding of the role of strategic engagement in building trust and reputation

Strong risk radar and a deep understanding of the machinery of government

Ability to build trusted relationships at all levels internally to drive better decision-making

Strong capability in Te Tiriti and Te Ao Maori

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an understanding of the principles of the Plain Language Act 2022.

Whanuitanga Utu a-Tau Salary range

Salary range for this role is $140,222 to $170,467pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
