Kaiarahi - Te Ao Maori Programme - 1 Year Fixed Term

Kaiarahi – Te Ao Maori Activities Programme (Turning Point Trust)We are looking for a person to support Turning Point Trust as a whole to engage with Te Ao Maori. You will be passionate about working with our tangata whai ora – people with Mental Health and Addiction issues – and provide a Tikanga Maori programme within our Turning Point Activities kaupapa. Your mahi will provide a cultural touchstone to Turning Point whai ora and staff and involve our whanau, wider community, hapu, iwi and hapori Maori to benefit Maori mental health. This work will build on the existing kaupapa developed by our Kaiwhakahaere who is working on another project for 1 year.The ideal person will have knowledge and lived experience of Tikanga, Te Reo Maori in depth knowledge of Nga Iwi me nga hapu o Tauranga Moana. A qualification in Mental Health, Social Services or related fields and relevant experience is desirable.A clear understanding of kaupapa service delivery and Maori health models and their practical application when engaging whai ora is essential, alongside leadership and facilitation experience. You will offer the aroha and ability to steer a culturally safe and dynamic service provision that achieves Te Tiriti principles and enhances our people's recovery and wellbeing.This position is a fixed term 1 year position of 25 hours per week. It may be extended or become a permanent role after the year is complete.
