He angitutanga | About the role We are seeking a highly skilled Kaiarahi National Treaty Advisor to provide expert advice and support as part of our Cultural Heritage Reset Programme.
In this role you will ensure that DOC meets its Treaty Partnership responsibilities under section 4 of the Conservation Act, contributing to the development and implementation of a comprehensive cultural heritage management system.
Key Responsibilities of the role: Lead the integration of matauranga Maori and Treaty principles into DOC's heritage management framework, ensuring Te Ao Maori perspectives are incorporated and overseeing relevant pilot projects.
Provide expert guidance on Treaty responsibilities for cultural heritage and assist with implementing Treaty of Waitangi requirements.
Support DOC managers and staff in cultural heritage management with Treaty partners.
Communicate the objectives and progress of the Cultural Heritage Reset Programme to DOC staff, Treaty Partners, and stakeholders.
Enhance organisational capability by integrating updated heritage systems and leading training initiatives.
Skills and Experience you will bring to the role: Deep understanding of cultural heritage practices and matauranga Maori.
Expertise in cultural heritage, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
Proficiency in te reo Maori and knowledge of working in partnership with Maori.
Experience in project management or working effectively in project teams.
Valid full New Zealand driver's license.

The salary range for this position is $92,450 to $116,985 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
