About the roleTe Ara Hihiri is a programmedesigned to support the development of literacy and numeracy skills forpeople in prison in Aotearoa.
Classes are small, capped at 6 tauira perclass.
Reporting to one of our regionalmanagers, you'll work closely with Ara Poutama/ Department of Corrections'staff who will provide you with training, advice, and support.
Casual basis (as required)Location: Kaikohe Campus and NorthlandRegion Corrections FacilityHourly rate: $ - $plus 8% holiday payDays: At most sites, classes are delivered inthe prison from Monday to Thursday, and Fridays are reserved for planning,training, and team meetings.
As an inspiring Kaiako, yourresponsibilities will include:Teachingtauira who have been assessed at step 1 or 2 on the Literacy and Numeracy forAdult Assessment Tool to develop their capability.Developinglearning and lesson plans tailored to the needs of each tauira.
Contributingto the development of teaching resources.
Maintainingrecords of tauira assessment results, attendance, progress, and feedback.
Ensuringcompliance to regulatory and contractual requirements.
AboutyouWe 're looking for someone who has thefollowing:Ateaching or training background.NationalCertificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education (Vocational) - Level 5.Goodknowledge of te reo/tikanga Maori ((Level 2 or above), or a willingness tolearn.
A fullNZ driver's license.
