This position combines two essential roles: Kaiako Te Ara Reo Maori and Kaiawhina.In this role, you will be responsible for providing cover when a team member is unable to work due to illness or other reasons. This may involve receiving a call either in the morning or the previous evening to cover a full day or specific class. Additionally, you'll be involved in managing planned leave. Prior to the leave period, you'll have the opportunity to indicate if you are available for all, part of or none of the time and we will work together to finalise arrangements.As a Kaiawhina you will support our Kaiako in delivering our Te Ara Reo Maori programme within a proactive, supportive, and whanau-based environment. This role also assists the Kaiako in preparing resources and classrooms, monitoring student attendance, supporting tauira learning, administration tasks and student recruitmentAs a Kaiako you will deliver our Te Ara Reo Maori programme using the Ako Whakatere methodology and techniques. Flexibility to work some weekends and evenings may be required.The ideal person for this role is a passionate and adaptable individual with a strong commitment to Maori education and the ability to thrive in both teaching and support roles.You will also bring with you:The ability to converse in Te Reo Maori.New Zealand Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (NZCATT L5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete this during their first year of employmentLevel 4 Te Reo or Tikanga qualifications are advantageous.Full and current New Zealand Driver's LicenseExperience teaching Te Reo MaoriExperience with Ako whakatere methods of teaching, learning and deliveryProven adult teaching experienceCompetency in navigating e-learning methods of delivery and systems.Confident using Microsoft software.As a kaupapa Maori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Ahuatanga Maori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.If we've outlined a role that matches your capabilities and aspirations, and a workplace that appeals, apply today as applications will close as soon as we have a suitable shortlist.A position description is available on our career's website.
