Complementing The Fono's growing set of child-focused services, the organisation has been awarded a Waitemata region Kahu Taurima: Maternity and Early Years work programme. This is a priority programme of work within Te Pae Tata - the interim New Zealand Health Plan and is like "Well Child" however The Fono will incorporate the distinctive Pacific characteristics that it delivers so well.Kahu Taurima is a multifaceted programme featuring specific additional services as well as using a wide range of existing elements of the FonoCare – Integrated Model of Care. "Our approach is so well suited to delivering what is needed in maternity and early years (pre-conception to 2000 days of age)" says Tevita Funaki, CEO of The Fono Group.
