Exciting Opportunity: Junior Sous Chef at TahuAre you a talented Chef looking to take the next step in your culinary career? We are seeking a Junior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team at Tahu, a vibrant beachfront restaurant in Gisborne. Tahu has been open for 11 months, and with the busy summer season ahead, we need a passionate and skilled Junior Sous Chef to support our expanding kitchen operations.Junior Sous Chef Role: As Junior Sous Chef, you'll work closely with both the Head Chef and Sous Chef, taking direction from them to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of food preparation and presentation, ensuring efficiency during service, and supporting junior kitchen staff. If you're a hardworking, detail-oriented chef who thrives in a fast-paced environment, this is the perfect role for you.Key Responsibilities:Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef with daily kitchen operations, ensuring quality and consistency in every dish.Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, ensuring a positive and productive team environment.Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented according to Tahu's high standards.Oversee food preparation and cooking during service, maintaining efficiency and quality control.Assist in managing inventory, ordering, and food cost control.Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in ensuring smooth, timely service.Qualifications:Proven experience in a kitchen role, ideally at Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef level.Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen operations.Excellent time management and organisational skills.Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.Strong communication skills and the ability to lead and inspire a team.A desire to learn and grow as a chef, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.What We Offer:Competitive pay and flexible hours.The opportunity to work in a stunning beachfront location.A creative and dynamic work environment with room for professional growth.The chance to be part of a passionate and dedicated team.An exciting role where you can contribute to maintaining high culinary standards.Interested?
