Junior Policy Adviser

Are you able to work under pressure and able to adapt to changing priorities?We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Junior or Graduate Policy Adviser looking to grow their knowledge and experience in policy and strategy within a supportive team environment. With guidance from the Principal Policy Adviser and senior colleagues, you will help develop and review strategies, policies, plans, submissions and bylaws.To be successful in this role you will be an excellent communicator who is able to analyse information and write in a way that is understood by a wide audience. You will need strong organisational skills, be able to meet deadlines, and have a positive, 'can-do' attitude.Skills and experienceYou'll need:A relevant tertiary qualification.Interest or some experience in policy development or analysis.Report writing skills.Sound knowledge of, and commitment to, the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.Strong communication and teamwork skills.A proactive approach to learning and development.Basic research skills.With around 200 staff, the Manawatu District Council is big enough to provide career growth and progression opportunities, but small enough that you can get to know everyone in the team.
