ABOUT THE ROLEThe Poutoko Iwi (o Ngapuhi) Iwi Social Work Practitioner is responsible for the delivery of specific whanau-based services in either the Education (within the school setting) or justice (within the family court setting). This could entail working in mokopuna safety and whakapapa protection, youth services and whanau centred approaches for the wellbeing of whanau, hapu and the wider Hapori. Notably the individual kaimahi can work at various times in the delivery of services across a number of given pieces of mahi.

In 2006, NISS became a subsidiary of Te Runanga-A-Iwi-O-Ngapuhi. For over 30 years, NISS has provided successful iwi-based and whanau-centred services in and around the mid-north as one of the largest iwi social service providers in Aotearoa.
