Select how often (in days) to receive an alert:Your work will contribute to the responsible development and regulation of New Zealand's oil, gas and mineral resource sectors.Support the Resource Markets branch to understand and to give regard to treaty commitments in our mahi.Strengthening the Maori-Crown-relationship to achieve positive outcomes.Permanent full time, Wellington basedSalary range: $85,537.00 - $101,911.00, kiwisavers plus wellness benefits.The Advisor Iwi Relationships position is a collaborative role, that acts as a connector of people, you will bring your expertise and perspective in regards to Maori, iwi and hapu related matters. Ensuring that their interests are reflected and considered as part of the decision making process in the development of Resource Markets policy and its implementation and operational delivery.In this role you will be required to:• Support our policy and operational teams to understand and to give regard to treaty commitments in our mahi, as set out in our Relationship Agreements, Accords and Crown Minerals Protocols.• Support Treaty Settlement negotiations pertaining to the mineral redress under the Crown Minerals Act 1991.• Ensure Resource Market's Treaty settlement redress is implemented in a timely and effective manner.• Provide advice on Iwi and hapu permit consultation to ensure this is conducted in accordance with legislation.• Develop relationships with iwi and hapu and key Maori organisations.• Bring a te ao Maori perspective into the mahi of branch, lifting the capability to be comfortable and confident when partnering with Maori.Nga pukenga me nga wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required• Ability to develop relationships with a variety of stakeholders.• Awareness of current Government policy and community views on the Treaty of Waitangi and the implications for policy and service delivery groups.• Understanding and appreciation of te Ao Maori.• Knowledge and experience of the aspirations and needs of Maori.• Ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work.• Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships.• Good written and oral communication skills with an ability to use a range of oral, written and visual mediums to communicate effectively.• Diligence and attention to detail.• Proven ability to develop trust and credibility with managers and staff.• Experience working with iwi and hapu and/or in the treaty negotiation and policy space.• Knowledge of the machinery of government and development of regulation and legislation.
