IT Specialist - Palmerston North - New Zealand Defence ForceJob Title: IT SpecialistLocation: Palmerston North, New Zealand Defence ForceAbout the Role:The IT Specialist plays a critical role in managing the Army's deployable computer and radio networks, ensuring seamless communication across the battlespace.Key Responsibilities:Establishing and maintaining voice or data radio networks to facilitate effective communication.Engineering satellite terminals to ensure reliable connectivity.Maintaining secure computer networks with various services and applications to safeguard sensitive information.Providing technical support to soldiers in diverse environments to minimize downtime.Ensuring that IT equipment is properly maintained and functional for deployment, enabling the Army to operate effectively.New recruits will undergo initial training as an IT Specialist, followed by specialized training in one of five distinct roles: Radio Frequency Technician, Information Management Specialist, Information Systems Operator, Systems Engineer, or Electronic Warfare Operator.Professional Growth:As individuals progress in their careers, they may take on leadership positions, commanding teams or providing instruction and training to soldiers.Compensation and Benefits:The starting salary for this position is $51,265, with opportunities for salary increases based on experience and promotions. Additionally, personnel enjoy free and subsidized healthcare, access to subsidized equipment, and sponsorship for tertiary study.Entry Requirements:Must be a NZ CitizenAt least 18 years old at the completion of Basic TrainingMinimum NCEA Level 2 achieved (or international equivalent)Must be medically fit for serviceMust meet minimum entry fitness standards
