IT Operations Analyst / Senior Operations AnalystSupport critically important systems that operate the NZ electricity market.Work on projects that enhance the Market system and introduce new technology.Be intellectually challenged and a subject matter expert on the Market system.Transpower is Aotearoa/New Zealand's National Grid operator. We keep the energy flowing by transporting electricity from where it is generated to cities, towns, and some major industrial users. We also manage the power system so that electricity is delivered whenever and wherever it is needed, 24/7.About the teamThe Application Services Group within our Information Services and Technology Division (IST) is responsible for managing Transpower's portfolio of applications and their cost-effective and seamless integration to meet business requirements through application acquisition or development, application life-cycle management, root cause analysis and problem resolution, as well as additions and enhancements.About the opportunityApplication Services works under the guidance of our Digital Strategy team to deliver products in accordance with enterprise standards. The critically important IT systems built and operated by our Applications Services team are a key part of running Aotearoa / New Zealand's national grid and electricity market in real time.As Operations Analyst, you will work alongside others, learning and developing your skills and experience, supporting a portfolio of Market applications and systems.This is a broad role working across operational support as well as project delivery of enhancements to the applications supported. The applications that the team supports are specific to Transpower, so problem solving and learning skills are essential. The role offers plenty of learning opportunities, but experience with our existing technologies will be advantageous.Specific ResponsibilitiesWork with others to learn and grow your skills and capabilities.Support technical incident resolution for critical systems.Co-ordinate with incident response teams to resolve IT incidents when other systems are involved.Proactively work alongside Security, Infrastructure, and wider IST to ensure applications are maintained to the required security standards.Learn from our Market System subject matter experts working and advising on capital projects.Develop continuous improvement skills in support of the reduction of technical debt through robust problem analysis and automation of routine operational tasks and service requests.As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to work on critical projects that introduce new technologies and focus on system improvements and preventative maintenance - all the while learning the complexities of the Market system domain.Who we're looking forYou'll enjoy working in cross-functional teams and know what it takes to achieve outcomes - whether it be the delivery of new capability or supporting existing functions.With great communication skills, you will have well-developed strong technical skills and the ability to explain technical concepts simply to a variety of audiences.It's important that you can learn complex technical and business concepts quickly and want to build your knowledge and experience to become a technical expert in the Market system domain.Minimum QualificationsRelevant hands-on service desk support, software support, system administration, and/or system operations experience.A background where you have developed analysis skills, including testing or business analysis.Experience with complex IT problem solving.Experience with ITIL frameworks.Experience in on-call 24x7 support.A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience is desirable.Preferred ExperienceOpenShift/DockerKafkaAnsibleWindowsAtlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence)Please note: this role provides 24x7 on-call support as required on a rostered basis.
