As an IT Engineer, you will be the first point of contact for all IT-related inquiries, providing top-notch Tier 1 support. Your role will involve troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, assisting with system and server administration, and ensuring the security of our IT infrastructure. You will work closely with our IT team to maintain and improve our technology environment.
Work Locations:
This position must live and be authorized to work in New Zealand; this role will work hybrid-style out of our office in Auckland. This position is not eligible for relocation or sponsorship.
Hours:
8/9am to 5/6pm locally; Monday-Friday. This role will require some night and weekend work, as well as a 24/7 on-call rotation.
What You Will Do:
Helpdesk Support:
Provide top-notch support via phone, email, or in person, ensuring all issues are resolved satisfactorily.
Assist with queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
Assist with the onboarding of new employees, including setting up workstations and configuring accounts.
Document technical issues and resolutions in a clear and concise manner.
Write training manuals and run diagnostic programs to prevent recurring issues.
Resolve problems with LAN, WAN, and other systems to maintain optimal performance.
System and Server Administration:
Manage user accounts, passwords, and permissions through Active Directory and maintain backup procedures.
Administer Office 365, including Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams.
Perform server management tasks, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
Ensure timely patching and updates for servers, applications, and systems.
Security Management:
Provision, modify, and repair equipment. Keep the Technology Asset Register up-to-date and manage IT resources.
Implement and manage Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) across the organization.
Manage Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions, including Intune.
Administer and maintain security tools such as Microsoft Defender, SIEM, and EDR solutions.
Monitor security alerts and take proactive measures to protect against potential threats.
Process Improvement:
Collaborate with other IT team members to identify and implement process improvements.
Use PowerShell scripting for automation tasks and system management (nice to have).
What You Will Need:
Strong People Skills: Patience and a knack for helping others.
Experience: At least 4 years in a related role.
Technical Expertise: Experience with Microsoft desktop and server OS, cloud technologies, Linux, hypervisors, and storage solutions.
Problem-Solving Abilities: Proven track record of managing incidents from start to finish.
Self-Management: Ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Security Savvy: Familiarity with information security principles and certifications.
Passion for Learning: Enthusiasm for technology and continuous improvement.
