In this role, you will play a pivotal part in evaluating and developing new investment opportunities, managing deal execution, and optimising the performance of our existing portfolio.You will work closely with the Managing Director (NZ) and play a leading role in helping to develop, structure and execute large renewable energy transactions. Participating across the asset lifecycle, from early-stage development through to deal structuring and execution, construction and asset management for large-scale solar and BESS projects.This is an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a highly dynamic, collaborative, and growing team of experienced renewable energy professionals working at the forefront of the independent energy sector in NZ.Project finance and financial modelling experience is essential. Energy sector experience is preferred but not essential. This role has a broad scope of responsibility but will be well supported by the Managing Director (NZ). Career development pathways will be provided within a fast-growing business / sector.Position ResponsibilitiesDeal Origination and Project DevelopmentUndertake industry research and maintain a strong working knowledge of the NZ energy sector.Build and maintain a network of peers at banks, law firms, advisory firms and due diligence providers.Assist with early-stage development activities by completing financial due diligence, financial modelling and commercial structuring of renewable energy projects (including debt, equity and offtake arrangements).Prepare deal summary memos, stakeholder presentations and financial analysis and reporting for our project pipeline.Financial Modelling and Analysis and ReportingConduct in-depth financial analysis of current and potential investments to assess performance and risk.Generate periodic investment reports, forecasts, and valuation analyses for stakeholders, summarising portfolio performance and key metrics.Monitor market trends, economic indicators, and sector-specific developments to inform investment strategies.Develop, manage, and refine financial models to accurately represent financial statements and capital structures.Model completion adjustments, working capital requirements, and banking covenants.Ensure alignment with general accounting principles and reflect key commercial terms in the financial model.Manage project and group level budgets.Deal ExecutionManage delegated tasks, budgets, and timelines for active deals.Manage key due diligence workstreams, including drafting scopes of work, managing DD providers and reviewing DD reports.Prepare key investment papers and communicate findings effectively.Review and interpret terms in equity agreements, power purchasing agreements and bank facility agreements.Assist with closing large project finance transactions.General Accounting and ReportingManage accounting and finance processes for our portfolio of projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance.Oversee the preparation and reconciliation of financial statements and records.Support deal origination and execution through robust analysis and the preparation of internal reports.Collaborate with auditors on internal and external financial audits.Asset Management, Compliance and Risk ManagementOversee the performance of managed assets, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.Maintain and update valuation models in collaboration with the MD.Draft internal and client reports to highlight key risks, opportunities, and priorities.Support equity reporting and undertake ad hoc financial analyses to inform decision-making.Stakeholder EngagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with investors, partners, and internal teams.Collaborate with senior management and external stakeholders to align on strategy.Present complex financial data to non-technical stakeholders in a clear, accessible format.Qualification and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (CA or CFA designation preferred).Minimum of 5 years in investment management, financial analysis, or accounting roles.Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, accounting software, and tools like Excel, Power BI, or Bloomberg.Strong financial modelling skills developed while working in an banking, investment banking, private equity and/or transaction services environment at Associate/VP level.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to simplify complex data for diverse audiences.Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.Desire to both support a small team in completion of projects, as well as take personal initiative with specific analyses, such as raising issues and contributing to investment thesis.
