The purpose of the Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) is to promote and protect health and disability services consumers' rights and to facilitate the fair and efficient resolution of complaints relating to infringement of those rights.
The Team Leader role is a mid-level manager responsible for managing a team of around eight. The Team Leader supports them to ensure that their work is high quality, timely, and meets targets. The Team Leader will mentor and support the team, liaise and ensure consistency with the other Investigation teams, and support the Investigations leadership team.
Investigators gather evidence relating to complaints and work collaboratively with the legal team, Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners, and Aged Care Commissioner in drafting investigation reports.

Experience with investigations, legal, and/or complaints resolutions processes.
Ability to identify and resolve complex issues and deal with evidential difficulties.
Strong written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to accurately convey complex information in clear and simple language.
Experience in managing a heavy caseload, producing high quality work, and consistently meeting deadlines.
Experience in work-flow management and the ability to provide constructive, timely feedback and direction, and identify and effectively manage risk.
Attention to detail, interpersonal skills, initiative, and professionalism.
An awareness of the systemic barriers disabled people experience in the health and disability system.
An appropriate tertiary qualification (health, disability or law) and/or clinical background.
Knowledge of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi and cultural competence in health, disability or other relevant settings.
