It is an exciting time to join Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral! We currently have an exciting project in the works – our Surgical Procedural Interventional Recovery Expansion (SPIRE), which includes a new cardiac catheterisation lab and means our team is expanding.About the role:We are looking for an experienced Interventional Cardiologist to participate in the development of Cardiology services up to and including the establishment of a local interventional service. This is part of a Regional Cardiac Strategy and is supported by both MidCentral and its regional partners.MidCentral has a catchment area of 180,000 people and our Cardiology Service currently provides diagnostic angiography, pacing, echocardiographic services, CTCA and CMRI to the population as well as an integrated heart failure service and inpatient service.The successful applicant will have proven clinical experience as well as demonstrated understanding of departmental development and the provision of strong clinical governance. In addition, experience in delivering an interventional service from its infancy and working in a rural setting is desirable.About our organisation:Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua – MidCentral is a 350-bed hospital in the city of Palmerston North, Manawatu, a city in the Lower North Island of New Zealand. Palmerston North Hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialties with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery. The hospital serves a local population of 180,000 but is the base for a regional head and neck oncology service which has responsibility for a population of 550,000 and draws patients from Whanganui, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay.
