Play a critical role in supporting international students to have a positive and distinctive Lincoln University and Aotearoa New Zealand experience.
In this role you will have a direct impact on the lives of international students by supporting them to successfully prepare for and adjust to living and studying in Aotearoa and being their go-to person throughout their journey at Lincoln University. You will provide comprehensive and inclusive pastoral care support services that align with the University's strategic values and goals, and the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021.
Based in our Wheako Tauira Student Experience team, some key tasks of the role are:
Being readily available to provide calm, positive and supportive pastoral care services to a diverse group of learners, including in emergency situations.
Facilitating engaging orientation activities that meet the needs of different age groups and study levels.
Identifying opportunities for learners to actively participate in student life and build social connections that promote a sense of belonging.
Proactively monitoring student academic achievement and facilitating academic support referrals to promote learner success.
Partnering with homestay providers to ensure the provision of safe, inclusive and supportive living environments.
Implementing initiatives that promote and raise the visibility of international student support needs to the university community.
This is a permanent role working 37.5 hours per week based at our Lincoln Campus. The salary range is set at $75,000 - $78,000 per annum plus an on-call allowance of $210 per fortnight to be available 24/7 for any emergency pastoral care needs.
To be successful in this role you will need:
A relevant tertiary qualification and/or significant equivalent professional experience i.e. five or more years' experience in a similar role for a complex organisation.
Demonstrated experience implementing initiatives that align with the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021.
Demonstrated experience providing advice, information and support to people from diverse cultures, ethnicities and identities.
Detailed knowledge of, or lived experience within, the education environment, particularly within the international student area.
A background in social work would be an advantage.
Demonstrated commitment to manaakitaka and other Lincoln University values.
