Today, we build on this legacy, sharing critical knowledge, innovative products, and essential services for a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous future.The RoleWe are seeking a Groundwater Modeller, with expertise in numerical modelling techniques, to undertake a range of research and consultancy projects relating to groundwater flow, contaminant transport, and impacts of climate change.You will have:A PhD in numerical groundwater modelling or related topic or at least 5 years' experience working in groundwater modelling research and/or related consulting roles.Experience using advanced numerical modelling approaches to solve a wide variety of freshwater problems.Advanced knowledge of hydrogeological and groundwater modelling concepts.Demonstrated ability to:develop groundwater flow models (including integrated surface water and groundwater models) and coupled nutrient transport models.develop code for linking models and pre-processing input data sets and post-processing model outputs.build mathematical models.undertake model parameter and predictive uncertainty analysis, and use parameter estimation software, for example PEST and/or PEST++.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with a strong track record of technical report writing and/or publishing in scientific literature.Good analytical and problem-solving skills.Flexible and adaptable team player.Good time management and organisational skills.In addition, the preferred candidate will have experience in one or more of the following:GIS, coding, and in particular Python coding.Experience working with Iwi/Maori groups and organisations to build relationships aimed at facilitating Maori development.On top of the technical skills required, the successful candidate will need to work independently, apply initiative, and take instruction from a range of staff.
