Intermediate Civil Engineer

Details of the offer

Be part of an inclusive team that makes a difference. We work to:
build community resilience to natural hazards and climate change – we're helping build infrastructure to mitigate future flood events
design communities – we're creating some of the largest land development projects in the South Island for the public and private sector
protect New Zealand's water quality – we're designing 3-waters systems to enhance the natural environment and to ensure community needs are met.
We have a great opportunity for a motivated civil engineer to join our busy Christchurch office. You will be part of our civil team of 30 engineers and technicians and will be involved in a variety of projects across urban and rural development, innovative commercial projects, roading and key infrastructure design, and large-scale regional projects.
We work in an exciting and dynamic environment, where we provide you the support and training to succeed. At Davis Ogilvie, a key point of difference is your involvement in the whole project lifespan; including client contact, design, tendering and construction observation.
The ideal applicant would possess the following skills: a minimum of three years' experience in infrastructure design or land development
a relevant tertiary qualification
to be familiar with relevant New Zealand standards and engineering code of practices
an understanding of 3D design using Autodesk Civil3D
experience with stormwater and water modelling software such as MikeURBAN, EPANET, SSA, PCSWMM and HEC HMS
strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
ability to manage time effectively and take control of their own workload and projects
a fun and outgoing personality.
The successful applicant will be offered excellent remuneration and a great work-life balance.
We can offer flexibility to be full time, or part time and could also involve a combination of work within the office and from home if required. This can be discussed further during the interview process.
Why DO is a great place for you to work… Our people are key to the success of our business. We are highly skilled, technical experts who are passionate about what we do. We are a friendly, supportive, diverse and inclusive team with high priority on creating a positive work environment. We work on a wide range of projects from residential and commercial developments to large scale roading and infrastructure projects.
While this role is Christchurch based, we have four offices who work closely together on projects throughout the South Island. This will give you the opportunity to work with colleagues from our other offices on exciting projects within the regions too.
In addition to working with a team of great people, you can also expect the following benefits: flexibility – whether you're a part-time parent or carrying out further study (in our team we have both), we will accommodate life into the work-life equation
professional development – we encourage our staff to keep learning and growing. We will cover the cost of Engineering NZ subscriptions and provide opportunity for meeting CPD requirements with a range of inhouse and external courses throughout the year
wellbeing – we offer subsidised health insurance through Southern Cross, access to our online wellbeing programme, regular mental health and wellness presentations, fresh fruit delivered to our office, paid entry into various sports events and 24/7 EAP services
environmental – we care about the environment. We are a carbon zero company with a focus on minimising our impact as much as possible
facilities – a spacious lunchroom with park views, a balcony, and a foosball table. There is plenty of bike parking, shower facilities and standing desks available. Hagley Park is right across the road for your lunchtime fresh air or exercise
fun – we like each other so much we organise extra activities to do together. Social functions, charity events, dinners, quiz nights and our annual ski day is always a hit
History – Davis Ogilvie has been established in Christchurch for over 90 years and is locally owned and operated. You will work side by side with the company directors and other staff with an abundance of knowledge and experience.
