Salary band & range: E - $85,302 and $99,628 depending on skills and experience.
Korero mo te Turanga - About the Role: Intelligence Analysts deliver timely, insightful, relevant intelligence products for decision makers to support understanding the risks and opportunities for New Zealand's biosecurity and primary industries. In this role you will be:
Planning, leading and delivering intelligence products drawing on a strong understanding of intelligence methodology.
Negotiating with stakeholders both internally and externally across industry, including decision makers, to determine requirements and priorities for intelligence products.
Establishing networks and maintaining productive relationships across MPI, wider government and industry.
Prepared to be involved in responses including All of Government Responses.
Developing insights into risks and opportunities for our biosecurity system and/or our primary industries.

You will have the ability to think critically with an inquiring analytical mind that can think ahead and communicate with impact.
You will be comfortable working collaboratively with colleagues from other disciplines. A growth mindset and desire to continuously develop your tradecraft and subject matter experience is essential.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A tertiary qualification or experience in a relevant discipline such as intelligence, science, law, economics, international relations, or resource management.
Working knowledge of collecting and interpreting diverse information.
Effective interpersonal and relationship management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise use of time and manage workflows.

Mo to matou Ropu - About the Team: The Intelligence and Information Group collects global reporting, science, and data to produce actionable strategic and operational intelligence for busy decision makers across MPI and the wider national security and hazard risk systems.
Our Intelligence Analysts come from a variety of backgrounds and work collaboratively to fuse their collective understanding of the sciences, international relations, and economics with intelligence frameworks and methodologies, to deliver robust intelligence assessments.

Nga Taki Whakahaumaru - Security checks: Higher level Security Clearance is a requirement of this role.
To be eligible to apply for a clearance you must be a citizen of, and have resided continuously, in New Zealand or one of the following countries for at least the last fifteen (15) years: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, or the United States.
Have a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS toward the recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
